Keywords yacht design
SUBJECT
A successful finance professional was looking for a unique design proposal for his 45 m yacht that he kept moored in Mallorca, the Balearic Islands.
CHALLENGE
Purchasing the vessel second hand, the previous owner kept the interiors quite classic and true to its nautical nature. The client, who has a passion for travel and a collector of rare art, was looking for a renovation that would better reflect his personality and unique taste.
SOLUTION
Part boat, part floating zen retreat, yin yang is the yacht that celebrates the duality of life: the light and the dark, stormy seas and smooth sailing, chaos with order. With curved built in-seating that twist and turn like waves in the ocean, public and private function spaces fit together like pieces in a puzzle, while never sacrificing the calm and serenity of an open floorplan. A neutral colour palette allow the natural beauty of textured materials like stained ash, raw concrete and metallic bronze to stand out, while subtle accents of burnt orange and add the right pop of colour. The two views show the yacht in both light and dark, or its yin and yang: a dark, warm and glistening sunset in the tropics, as well as a bright, cool sunny day sailing along the Nordic glaciers.
